Dean, that is some great information that you have in your post. I can see where it would help people to consider having a raw plant diet. I liked your suggestion about adding fruits gradually. Have you ever read the book “The End Of Heart Disease” by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. where he suggests a mainly plant based diet? Not a raw plant diet, so I am a bit curious about the research for a raw plant based diet long term.

    Peace,
    David

Thank you for your comment, much appreciated 🙂

Cooking the raw plants kills off the living cells which is what holds all the nutrients and healing properties. I have not read that book no but sounds interesting.

There are many benefits to a raw plant based diet, it is hard to give up all the rich foods, that is why I found it easier to gradually incorporate raw plant foods into your diet.

Anything cooked above 80 to 90 degrees will start to kill the living cells, but everyone has their own choice, maybe just have a side of raw plants along with your normal diet and definitely cut sugar from your diet and use alternatives, my favourite is coconut sugar or organic maple syrup.

Their are obviously going to be some difficulties since we have been programmed to eat certain foods all out lives so our bodies have to get used to the new diet.

But whatever you decide it’s your choice and do whatever makes your feel comfortable.

      Stay happy, healthy and successful.

I really can relate to your post on starting a plant-based diet, I do consume about 90% of my diet with plant-based foods and I have eliminated processed foods. I am having problems with eliminating meat completely from my diet, what can I do?

Meat is one which I really struggled with as I loved to have a steak, was my favourite food. Anything processed is a big no-no as it contains all sorts of of chemicals and preservatives.

What I can advice is to have will power and don’t just cut it out instantly setting yourself up for a fail especially after all these years we have been programmed to eat meat and our body will have withdrawal symptoms. The best thing to do is gradually cut down. I eliminated red meat out of my diet first as this is the hardest to digest, so stick to fish and chicken for a while gradually cutting them out. Make a nice lentil and spinach curry or a 5 bean chille, or if you really want to have that meat texture you can always use a meat substitute such as quorn.

Hope this helps you along your journey to great health, happiness and success.

Dean, your post gives some great information. I personally do not wish to go without meat and use the paleo diet as my yardstick. I do understand some of the difficulties in sticking to any diet when those around do not have the same mindset as you.

I wish you success in your journey.

Everyone has the freedom and own choice to do whatever makes them happiest, giving up meat is the hardest part as I love a steak. When changing your diet don’t tell people “I”m changing my diet” say it a different way like I’m going to eat healthier or cut out less unhealthy foods. This way it excludes the negative opinions of other people.

May you have all the success, health and happiness you desire.

I love my chocolate and have a major sweet tooth, and this was the hardest for me but I thought too myself our bodies need sugar, but not that defined deadly sugar. Natural sugar from fruits, my favourite alternatives are coconut sugar, maple syrup and dates and for my chocolate cravings I will make a cake or out of all these health benefiting alternatives, using raw cacao, milk alternatives such as soya or oat or my personal favourite coconut milk and oat combined.

Thank you for you comment, I really appreciate it. May you have all the success, health and happiness you desire.

Very, interesting topic you have covered Dean. I can see where eating raw plant foods would certainly be advantageous. I recently read that they are also the perfect snack to help with those cravings and snacking habits so many of us have. I am going to try and incorporate this more. Do you have any suggestions for creative add-ons to the raw plant foods? Like a healthy dip option maybe?
I am also going to try the sugars you mentioned as I think that is huge. There is sugar in so many things and I am sure a whole lot more than we know. Thank you again. Awesome post.

Refined sugar is in absolutely everything we buy from the shelves near enough, that is why i always eat my meals from scratch if I decide to have a cooked meal, now and again I do like to have a meal that is cooked but will always incorporate raw fruit and veg into my diet on a daily basis. Do you know a lovely dip I make quite often is:

      2 avocados
      2 large tomatoes
      one clove of garlic
      1 large onion
      1 tbsp of turmeric
      1 tbsp of ginger
I use a table spoon of cayenne pepper as well but most people find this too hot but i love a bit of heat and cayenne has so many health benefits.
      Juice of 1 lime
      Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
Black pepper, add all these too your taste as the ginger and turmeric can be over powering but if you really want to reap the health benefits use a tbsp and all ingredients have to be organic, blend all these together for a delicious nutrition packed dip.

A Delicious smoothy I have every morning with out fail because I absolutely love it.

      1 banana
      1 tbsp of turmeric
      1 tbsp of ginger
      1 tbsp of cinnamon
      200ml coconut milk
      200ml soya milk
      1 tbsp or coconut sugar
      3 dates (pitted)
I haven’t measured yet but I would say a handful of oats, and again everything organic.

Thank you for commenting, may you have all the success happiness and health you desire.

I really enjoyed reading your article. I totally agree with you when you say you can’t cut meat out of your diet cold turkey. As an example of the dangers of this is a friend of mine wanted to cut meat out for a little while. When she did that, she didn’t know she needed to replace the meat with another protein source. My friend became ill and could not get better. She finally went to the doctor and was told she needed to have replaced the meat she deleted with something else. Once she replenished the protein source back into her diet, she immediately got well.

The foods we eat work together to give us the energy and nutrition we need to function. Therefore, eliminating things needs to be done with caution, just as you have said.

Once again, I have really enjoyed your article and am looking forward to the next one. What will your next topic be about? I look forward to reading it.

Once again, this is a very enlightening article. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Well that is a great example, I am happy to hear that your friend is well again 🙂

We have been programmed to eat certain foods and been made to believe that certain foods for example, milk and meat even though they may have some health benefits, what they do not tell us is about the negative impact these foods have on our health which completely out weighs the the benefits. so by us eating these foods thinking they are benefiting our health they are actually making us sick.

Giving up anything body has been digesting for a long time will have negative affects, our body has to get used to the change and as you said and I have made a few posts about is alternatives. like giving up sugar, well refined sugar and using healthy alternatives such as dates, coconut sugar, Argave syrup which is extracted from a cactus and maple syrup and many other alternatives. So we don’t have to give most things up totally, just find healthy alternatives.

Check out my posts for healthy alternatives to milk and sugar, I haven’t drunk cows milk for a long time now and never will, also I haven’t used refined white sugar for a very long time and my energy levels are amazing.

I am thinking of posting some recipes which i use on a daily basis, enjoy, have a great day and may you have all the health, happiness and success you desire.

    Hello Dean
I am still struggling with eliminating meat from my diet, I just feel so limited on what I can eat when I can’t eat grains very often even too many gluten-free grains bother me now. I can’t do dairy products as well, so what can I replace instead of meat. I do consume the majority of my diet with fruits and veggies which I have experienced a dramatic difference in my health so I know what you are sharing really is important and works.

Yeah meat is a hard one to give up since we have been programmed to eat it and it has become a habit to have it as part of any meal like you have to have a steak with chips or beef with a roast dinner, pork chops and veg. But there are lots of things you can use to substitute meat with, you just have to get acquired to the taste. Our bodies are not designed to digest meat so it sits in our stomach putrefying and releasing unwanted toxins into your body giving us bad breath, body odour and smelly gases from the rear lol.

Thank you for taking the time to read my article and especially commenting. Have a great and prosperous day my friend. Take care, Dean Gunter.
